Frequently asked Questions
Apex Hockey transforms skills training with state-of-the-art biomechanics, sport science, and on-ice technology. Since 2016, we've refined our methodology through youth camps across North America and collaborations with NHL teams. Based in Ottawa and Los Angeles, our expert team, comprised of former players, seamlessly blends cutting-edge research, technology, and on-ice expertise to develop the premier athlete performance platform.
Q: Who is eligible to register for Apex Hockey skills classes and camps?
A: Apex Hockey classes and camps are tailored for youth hockey players with intermediate to advanced skill proficiencies. Our programs are designed to hone and refine the skills of players who have a foundational understanding of the game. It's important to note that Apex Hockey is not a hockey skills program for beginners; rather, it is geared towards athletes who already possess a certain level of expertise on the ice. To ensure a focused and dynamic training environment, our camps typically welcome participants starting at a minimum age of 10 years old. This age requirement ensures that participants have the physical and cognitive readiness to engage with the specialized training curriculum that Apex Hockey provides.
Q: What are the registration criteria for Apex Hockey camps?
A: When registering for Apex Hockey camps, there are specific criteria to ensure a smooth and accurate enrollment process:
- Verification of Eligibility and Skill Level: To confirm eligibility and assess skill level, parents are requested to provide a screenshot of their child's roster from their 2025-2026 winter youth hockey team during the registration process. This step is crucial in ensuring that participants meet the necessary criteria for the selected camp and allows us to tailor the experience to their skill level.
- Accurate Information for Skill and Age Requirements: It's important for parents to accurately enter their child's information during the registration process, including skill level and age. Certain classes and camps may have specific skill level and age requirements to optimize the learning experience. Providing precise information helps us create well-matched groups, ensuring that participants receive targeted and effective coaching.
Please note that these measures are in place to enhance the overall experience and skill development for each participant. If you have any questions or need assistance during the registration process, our team is readily available to provide support through our contact page. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a seamless registration for Apex Hockey skills camps.
Q: I am interested in Apex Hockey visiting my city to host a skills camp. Who can I reach out to for more information?
Q: What is Apex Hockey's cancellation/refund policy?
A: At Apex Hockey, we invest significant resources to secure ice time, staff, and program logistics well in advance of each camp. To ensure fairness for all families and protect the integrity of our programming, the following policies apply:
1. Camp Insurance Option (Highly Recommended)
-
Families may purchase Camp Insurance at registration through our partner, Vertical Insure. Click here for more information regarding the coverage.
-
This insurance covers unforeseen events such as:
-
Player injury or illness
-
Parent job loss
-
Family emergencies
-
-
If purchased, families may apply for a refund directly through the insurance provider. Documentation (such as a doctor’s note) may be required by the provider.
We strongly recommend all families purchase camp insurance. Without insurance, refunds are not available.
2. If Camp Insurance Is Not Purchased
-
No Refunds: Camp registrations are non-refundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to injury, illness, scheduling conflicts, or family emergencies. A credit may be issued at the sole discretion of Apex Hockey. Credits are valid for one full year from the date of the purchased program.
-
Medical Exception (Doctor’s Note): If a player is unable to participate due to injury or illness and a valid doctor’s note is provided, Apex Hockey may issue a credit toward a future camp. No refunds will be granted.
-
Timing of Cancellations:
-
30+ days prior to the camp start date: Families may be eligible for a partial or full credit at Apex Hockey’s discretion.
-
Within 30 days of the camp start date: No credits will be issued, except for the medical exception listed above.
-
-
No-Show Policy: Failure to attend without notice results in forfeiture of the full camp fee.
3. Apex-Initiated Cancellations
If Apex Hockey cancels a program (e.g., due to low registration, facility closure, or unforeseen circumstances), families will be offered either:
